- Historicist brick building on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz
The Geestemünde water tower stands at An der Mühle 33, on the corner of Bülkenstraße and Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. It was built in 1891 to plans by Walter Pfeffer as a round brick building in the historicist style, with a projecting tower head and a conical roof. Technically it follows the system of Otto Intze of the Technical University of Aachen.
During the Second World War the tower was badly damaged and its dome replaced by a flat roof. In 1976 it was threatened with demolition, but by 1978 it had been restored to its historic appearance. It has been a listed monument since 1984. It has not been needed for the water supply since 1996; in 2003 a restaurant extension was added.
